I'm going to dig out the fan assembly that came on my Yukon when I bought
it... It's buried "somewhere"... And compare it with my replacement one...
I don't have any issues with coolant temps even while towing hot & heavy...
But I wouldn't mind my trans temps to be a tad lower. I even upgraded to the
bigger hypercool trans cooler/fan assembly this summer (10" fan vs 8")

I finally got all the parts I needed to do my 7/9 700w fan upgrade. I went with GM parts.
The shroud I got off of eBay was new and had a different number stamped on it from the box label (which was a GM box), 15844869, even though it's listed as 15780789, but it fit all the parts just fine and mounted to the radiator without issue.

I got the motors from Rockauto. Prices have gone up on these from what I have seen in other forum postings. I paid $106 for 150881 and $161 for 1580880.

Question on the motors. Why are they different? Obviously, one is black and the other is silver, but they differ in size and mount differently from each other. But why is there a difference, since they are both supposed to be 700W? I am assuming the black motor is a different size from the silver one because that one is needed to turn the 9-blade fan. Perhaps a larger motor and more copper windings for the 9-blade?

I got the 7 and 9 fans separate from the other parts since I did not get these with the shroud. The only references I had for where to install each fan blade were pictures from other posters, but I placed the 9-blade fan on the black motor and the 7-blade fan on the silver motor.

Sorry, I did not get pictures of all this before I installed it, but please let me know if I have the fan blades on the wrong motors.

Anyway, it was all plug and play as others mentioned, and was a relatively easy install. I didn't have to disconnet any radiator hoses.

I'm glad I found this thread. This was an upgrade I needed to do!

I am pretty sure the bolt holes for the fans are different, just like the motors. As far as I remember anyway
