Once I purchase some headers, I'm considering powder coating them with high heat powder coat. Is this a good idea ? And if anyone out there has full length ones, can I get an estimate of where the exit point is in regards to the body ? (how far back underneath) I'm planning on a custom exhaust system and will post pix when I begin the install. Thanks for any help on this subject.

The long tube headers will exit right about the front of your trans pan, maybe a little further back. You should have room for a small cat on each side. where it will tight is where the drivers side crosses over to the pass side. if it's a 2wd you can take your drivers side and go over your X member and take a 90 over to your pass side. from there you can run a 2 into 1. Or you can run 2 mufflers side by side and then out to your final exit point. if its a 4x4 it will be tight coming off the pass cat into a 90 over to the pass side and then out from there.
this should give you a good idea of how it could go. I would say just lay under your truck and give it a good look. there might be other ways to do it. you don't have to limit yourself to the muffler shop bending machine. you can get mandrel bent 90's, 45's, U bends. then just cut and tack it up and then finish weld it on the ground or take it to a shop and have it finished. just make sure your tacks are good and strong because when you take it off the truck to finish weld you dont want it to get distorted.
As far as tailpipes go you can run both on one side, two out the back (shotgun style) or my favorite one out each corner with just a bit of a nice stainless tip showing.
I hope this helps.

Thank you very much with where the end of the header will end up. She is a 4X4 and I'm an old school kinda guy, need it to be true duals. The approximate end will give me a starting point for the custom mods. As for the powder coating with high heat powder coating on the headers, I was told steel headers tend to rust quicker than s/s but the price for the s/s is ridiculously higher so I was hoping powder coating them might help them to last much longer. I'm not an engineer with unlimited resources, so any help in the direction I'm wanting to head is greatly appreciated. There always seems to be someone on this site who has either already gone through the things I'm planning or are much more knowledgeable than me. Thanks again...

ceramic coating is always recommended and should be done to the point where it passes all engine components and away from tranny bell housing, pan cooler lines for the best reduction of induced heat into the drivetrain.

That is expensive, yet cheaper than $600 for ceramic coated from a parts store. And $800 for s/s ones. I'll have to get a quote from a local company.
