Recently purchased a 2002 yukon denali. Can't find information anywhere on whether I have a hydrolic, or vacuum version of the break master cylinder. I have a spongy break pedal, so I bought all the break lines,a nd hydrolic hoses. I figured i might aswell change out the master cylinder, since it's gotta be really old by now.

normal brake booster has a big round booster behind the master, hydro boost has lines that lead from the p/s pump to the pump behind the master.

id start with bleeding the system before tossing parts at it.

if you have hydro boost that part can get air trapped, you need to jack both front wheels off the ground, then pump the brakes like 20 times, then turn the engine off and turn the wheels lock to lock like 15 times. put some card board down under the ps pump area cause if you have air trapped its going to force fluid out the cap and make a mess.
