Ok, l’m on the third set of fobs that have stopped working (these include the 2 OEM fobs and a fob I ordered off amazon 2 years ago). So I’ve been looking for replacement fobs again and I’m wondering if I can program the 2015+ fob to our 07 model. Just because the 2015+ fobs look better than the 07-14s.

@Rocket Man and a couple others bought some fobs that are able to be programmed to the GMT900 trucks that look like the '15+... can't remember the name of the company selling them but I'm sure Mark will chime in.

the fobs for the 2015+ Trucks run on a completely different frequency than the 2007-2014 generation trucks. So they won’t mate up. Several guys here have tried to do it on a 2007-2014 with no avail, myself included with a 2007 key fob trying to do it to my 2006.
Boost auto is the brand that makes key fobs for the pre 2015 trucks that look like the newer style ones. I have two for my 2006 that look like the 2015 ones. They’re pricey, 40ish bucks a pop. But worth it. They’re pretty durable. One of mine went through both the washer and dryer and still works perfectly. Lol.

Boost Auto... that's the company I couldn't remember.

Why are your fobs going bad? Mine are doing fine and still on original batteries!

Yep, Boost Auto. https://boostautoparts.com/products/fob
They’re $40 but also I found the cases to be kinda cheap AND the sides are chrome plastic and everybody knows I hate chrome. Fortunately the OEM cases with the black metal sides work with the Boost innards. Which makes for a $60 or so fob but to me it’s worth it. I have one for my 02 Denali and 08 Silverado.

Do these fobs have better range? I feel like I have to be within 15 yards for it to remote start. I sometimes can get it to work at a longer range doing the under chin deal but it’s inconsistent. And I already replaced the battery thinking that was it.

That seems to be about the range for all my fobs. What do you have that works from farther away than 50’?
