Possible fuel problem?

I have to pump the gas pedal alot before it will start. I replaced the plugs and plug wires.

Why did you replace plugs and wires? Same issue? Are you able to check fuel pressure? Kinda sounds like you’re not getting enough pressure. How long had this been going on? Any codes?

Have you checked the fuel pressure? Spec is 60-66 psi with ignition on, engine off.

If you have a scanner, see what the computer is reading for coolant temperature. If it’s some oddball number, suspect the coolant temperature sensor by the thermostat. If they flake out, it can give a bad reading to the computer and call for too much fuel. It’s usually noticed on a hot start, the quick remedy is to hold the gas to the floor to start it. That puts it in ‘clear flood’ mode, temporarily stopping injector flow.
