2003 Escalade EXT AWD, Replaced trans with remanufactured transmission at 138,000 miles. Later found it was a transmission fluid leak while pulling a camping trailer that took out the transmission.

Some trends I'm noticing. Light foot and maintenance makes them last a while. And of note, the later models seem to last a bit longer. Did they change something?
I believe they changed in 03 from a 4l60 to a 4l80 but I could have the year wrong

hmm, I don't know I guess it could have went in the Denali's but apparently the 4l80 has a lot more history to it than I ever thought it did

I have an 05 with a 4l60. I believe the 80s only came in vehicles with the 6.0
Some of the 2002 Denali xl models sporadically had 4l80s. But it wasn’t across the board. I had a client that had one and it was a tank. I think in 2003 only the 2500 models got the 4l80. Which is a shame.

'02 Denali XL 324,926 mi. I bought at 298 and have done cam and heads, and daily do full throttle pulls from a dig past the Ford dealership. I've been doing my own tuning, and my delivered torque has hit 441 ftlbs. There is no way in hell the original sun shell would stand up to that abuse. I've done 2 fluid filters but had to change out my radiator due to trans/coolant mixong and had to change a solenoid another time, so why not was doin fluid anyway.

'01-'03 Suburbans and Yukons & XLs had 4L60Es.
'04-'06 had 4L65E
Denali '01-'06 had 4L65E (6.0 & AWD)
'07+ had 6L80E or 6L90E
No 80E in a half ton, only 3/4 and 1 ton, Allison on the Duramax.
