Paint on front bumper

Im getting the idea of painting the black parts on my front bumper red to match.
What do you guys think? There is another guy on here who did it... BIG-TODD and it looks good on his kandy blue tahoe

The parts above and below the chrome air dam.
(The only black thing on the front bumper)

I think it would look good but if you were going to do that I would have the chrome painted red along with it. You mentioned earlier you want the SS bumper though. My personal feeling is if you plan to get that at some point save yourself the money on the stock bumpers and save for what you really want.

You could always paint it yourself, and if you don't like it buy the new bumper.

well I was thinkin of doin this just to stay on the cheap side for now until I get some more cash flow for an SS bumper like Effeckts. cuz I have a guy who can paint stuff for me basically for free. all i gotta do is provide the paint.

Well if it is truly basically free then it would be more worth it. I was imagining you would have to pay a couple hundred or so to get it done. If that was the case I would say no because that is already half toward your new bumper.

Oh that's different, hook up on labor. I say paint the entire bumper red and enjoy that mod until you are ready to move up to the SS. Do anyone know were to get a 02 yukon bumper cheap.

every time I see Effeckt's, it makes me lean towards buying a whole new one or painting the whole thing but if I paint before I get a new one, I think its gunna be the whole thing like Pologreen said.

and Effeckt, what color inserts did you get? looks like black chrome

and I guess i need to go ahead and get my grille shell painted with it too right? also I want to keep my emblem...... I just needs lots of money all at once. hahaha maybe Ill win the lottery when I turn 18

I got the grille done gunmetal in color. I would definitely do the grille if you paint.

I just got back from a local paint shop that I was referred to by my paint guy (looking for paint for rear vent caps) and they have the matchin paint but the only reason I would question painting the whole bumper is because once that chrome is red, its red and there is no goin back so Id rather wait and get something I know will look good.

and Effeckt, you had the metal parts on the grille painted also? I wouldve guessed you just ordered a certain color from stylin trucks and left it that way...

I would have but they only offered brushed aluminum or chrome. I wanted them darker so I just got them painted gunmetal while the truck was in the shop.

I say paint the whole thing red and black the grill insert, I like seeing my bumper painted better than the regular chrome bumpers so as long as you get a good paint job I think you'll be happy with it, mine came from the factory that way tho so I could see how it might be a lil risky if your gunna be happy with it, specially when gettin a new one would be pretty pricey

and yes exactly on what you said MASS-HOE, just a lil too risky but I might end up doin it anyway but thats still a long way off. I just like having ample time to mull it over.

I didn't even bother asking for the black chrome. I ended up changing my mind and went with the gunmetal instead of the black chrome.

and actually, the chrome is the bumper.

the black above is the "bumper cap" and the gray below is the "airdam"

i'm happy with my painted bumper. i think the ss bumper looks great, but i wish someone would design something else, like everyone that has an aftermarket bumper..it's the ss bumper. so i like mine painted, cuz the only OEM one color matched is on the 4x4's and the valance is different on those, so I like to think mine stands out

I say paint the entire bumper, and your grill clip to color match with a chrome grill like effeckt's!! My $.02
