I will be bringing in my 08 Denali pretty soon to replace the driver's side motor mount. The oil pan gasket is also leaking so I'll be dropping the pan to replace that as well. Is there anything else that I should do while I'm in there? I know I will be dropping the front diff to get the oil pan out, so this is a pretty involved job. Don't want to miss anything and have to do it again.

While your front diff is out, double check the seals in it and if it hasn’t been done in a while, replace the diff fluid. Make sure you can get the fill plug out before you open the drain plug.

Maybe replace the pickup tube O-ring as cheap insurance? If you don't have it already and if your AFM is still enabled, I'd install the AFM Oil Deflector:

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2012/SB-10062524-7690.pdf

Don't forget the dabs of sealant at the four points (two in front, two in back) where the timing cover meets the block.

Mine is an 08, so it doesn't have AFM. Is the deflector still needed?

Good idea. I'll be doing that. 171K and as far as I know it's never been changed.

Definitely do the o-ring pickup tube. It takes about 10 more minutes or less once you have the pan dropped and it costs a few dollars. I did my pan gasket on my '08 Denali and a year later was getting Oil Pressure Low on the dash and had to drop the pan again to replace the O-Ring because I didn't know about it.

You could think about the oil pump and timing chain once you have the pan dropped since it would need to be dropped to do those two items too. The only other item I can even think of would be front differential mounts. My driver side mount was busted.

Do the o-ring and the deflector while your there. They cost next to nothing and you would rather be safe than sorry.

I did all of TSB# 10-06-01-008M a yr ago to our 07 Yukon Denali L92, and no regrets. It no longer burns or leaks any oil.

Here's a link of the TSB

Do both motor mounts and trans at your milage. It’ll carry you for another 70-100k miles. The o ring is a really smart idea.

The typical low speed clunk in the drive shaft can be eliminated by greasing the driveshaft yoke or ... this guy added a zerk to properly address it

Next brake job inspect the seals at the axle backing plates when the rear disc are off. Mine were just starting to leak @ 125k. It involves pulling both rear axles and rear diff cover to address them. It’d be a convenient job to address if the rear parking shoes needed replacement or to keep them from getting contaminated with diff oil.

It would also address the rear diff service when your doing a 200k major service.

Loving our 08 Denali too!

So just to get this straight, my Yukon is a 2008 Denali with the L92 6.2. It doesn't have AFM. Do I still need a deflector?
