Thats why i did mine parallel..... hehehe... Im kidding man.... smile... and dont be so angry

Not angry at all. Just perplexed. I consider myself reasonably competent when it comes to car/truck stuff.

And regards to my 2-battery setup, I bought all OEM/GM components to recreate the TP2 option offered on LE vehicles. About $300 of materials for each of my 2 trucks.

Besides, they have to be in parallel, because otherwise I'd have 24 volts, right? ;)

FWIW, my OEM dual battery 2015 PPV (I know, I know - different year, spec & model) did the exact same thing.
Remote start fine but no key start.
It turned out to be a battery issue. Replaced the primary battery and the issue was resolved.
However as I also only use the remote start I ended up having to replace the secondary battery soon after that, possibly due to so many starts using the secondary battery.

Thanks. That's kind of where my head's at for now. I think my primary battery is 5-6 years old. When I try to start with the key, it does all of the "low voltage" behavior - HIDs flash, service traction control, etc. I'll dig into it this weekend.

Update - problem solved. Thanks to RC45. Saved me a bunch of troubleshooting and the hassle of replacing an ignition switch. Pulled out the primary, moved the secondary to the primary position, connected the cables, and she fired right up with the key.

Good to know this behavior for the future. I always wondered about the interaction of the two batteries if the primary was dead. Now I know.

ETA: Of course, my daughter, who has the Denali (also with dual batteries) 600 miles away at college, texts me saying, "Oh yeah, I knew that. It happened to me once when I drained my battery while tailgating with my friends." Thanks, kid. :emotions122:

Still think you need a battery isolater

Um, I do have a battery isolator. It's right there, a few posts above, in the list of parts.

12135194 -RELAY; AUX BAT Qty 1 RockAuto $20.79

I didn't do this half-assed. I built it just like GM does on the assembly line for PPV vehicles. Isolator is automatic, tied in to the ignition. Ignition off, batteries isolated. Ignition on, connected.

The Denali - isolator is on the firewall, just to the left of the brake booster, the two big red cables attached to it..

The Suburban - isolator is mounted on the side of the hood strut support.
