Hey y'all! I'm sorry if this has been discussed in previous posts.

I've been having intermittent rough idle, Bank 1 code pulled, but the craziest of symptoms being- the smell of mothballs when it's at rough idle.

It's not consistent, and the only pattern I can see is it'll happen if the truck has been driven longer than 10+ minutes.

5.3 engine, 2wd, 135k miles.

I'd appreciate any help.

Thank you so much in advance!

You said there was a Bank 1 code. What exactly was the code?

Just based on the information so far, I might take a guess... Maybe a failed or failing upstream O2 sensor(s). They can really screw up the air/fuel mix, which can be especially noticed at idle.

#1 suspect might be Bank1 Sensor1, which is the driver's side upstream sensor.

Can you get us more information?

Sorry for the lack of info; I tried editing my post last night, but I think the website was down.

This is what comes up:

P0171 Fuel Trim System lean

System too lean (Bank 1)
Secondary DTCs
- P0455: Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) System Large Leak Detected

More info: This was my mom's vehicle that my parents bought new in 2005. She hardly drove it, so it's only got 135k miles on it. My parents have replaced the gas cap multiple times, and even replaced the entire gas tank back in 2009 I believe. I don't know if that info is helpful, but it's what I've got. I am now driving it, and slowly trying to replace/fix some of the stuff on it.
