I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a required break-in procedure for the new diesel engines.

I know it used to be a thing in the past but not sure about these new engines. With sensors and logging in these newer cars, I'm sure that they would be able to see if you followed (or didn't) the break in procedures and potentially void the engine warranty if a failure occurred that could be tied back to that.

For the first 500 miles

- Avoid full throttle starts and abrupt stops.

- Avoid exceeding 3,000 RPM (diesel engine) when accelerating or downshifting to slow or brake the truck.

- Avoid making hard stops for the first 200 miles. Hard stops with new brake linings can result in premature wear and earlier replacement.

- Do not tow a trailer.

- The vehicle will be in the "Learn" mode for the first 4,000 miles
