Never realized this was odd, upper ball joint brackets on an ssv?

Did brakes the other day and never noticed these brackets bolted on/around the ball joint. I originally chalked it up to bolt on ball joints which I’ve experienced on other vehicles but after looking at arms it seems like it’s a non serviceable part.

I’m thinking maybe they were limiting straps maybe? This is an ex BP vehicle that had a lift kit on it at one point.

Interesting, I’ll be watching to see if anyone can identify that. Didn’t have them on mine.

It’s actually around the control arm, not thru it. Maybe I’ll pull the fender liner and see if anything was attached up there.

I’ve seen them go from where the strut mounts up top to down on the lower control arm.
