What should oil pressure be at idle and driving say at 3000 rpm?
I have been running 5-20 and thinking about switching to 5-30
What do some of you guys run?

I have 217,000 on mine and it runs fine.

Hot idle clean oil and new filter runs 45psi just like Mr B's I do notice a slight oil pressure drop once it gets dirty after around 3000 miles and it starts idling when hot below 40psi on the oil pressure guage. Just starts to look dark and dirty on the oil stick to me really anytime after about 3000 miles. I am currently using a 3500 to 4000 mile oil change interval. Engine has a lot of wear on it (along with everything else including me hahah) just trying to nurse it along till I can buy a nice new EV truck for cheap. Replaced the front brake hoses and pads last week and talked to her / patted her on her cracked dash pad telling her to come on baby you can make 300k LOL

this is what gm manual I found in my software says about oil pressure in these trucks. they use a different variable displacement oil pump. only ls to use it I believe, but the LT engines all use a version of it. at least from what I've looked up.

I think you'll need a scanner to read the psi, my dash gauge doesn't look very precise

oil pressure spec hot
36psi @1000
42psi @2000
45psi @4000
afm relief valve 55-75 max.
p0521 ecm detecta different oil pressure than expected by lower 6.8psi or greater than 7.3 psi for 10sec

the ecm code is will set a light for to higher pressure then expected and to low of pressure. again I'm guessing it's before the lifter deactivation is such a big issue and completely controlled by oil pressure. because byond that it's just a simple ls engine that aren't picky at all about oil pressure. I've seen junk yard 5.3s handle huge nitrous hits over and over while having bearly any oil pressure at idle from worn out cam bearings.
