LED Tail swap

a guy at work is trading in his denali soon and will trade me for my stock tails for his led tails straight across...pretty cool deal i think. both vehicles are 05yd.

we tried to just pull a tail on each vehicle and found that his has a different looking harness now. there were connection plugs about 10-12" long from the tails attached to a harness that went underneath the vehicle. without climbing underneath it as it's raining i wasn't too sure if they had done some splicing to make them work or not. any one that has done this mod do the led tails come with an all new harness that is plug and play? I don't mind swapping harnesses too, if I have to. it appears there is a board attached to the tail, but i'm not too sure if it is the board or not. he is willing to stop by the house this weekend and do the swap then if need be. Thanks in advance for any advice.

He is going to come over this weekend and we are going to try to swap the entire harnesses...if it works i get free LED tails! WOOT!

The LED tail lights should plug right into your where your old light bulbs come out from your stock Tail Lights. I hope that makes sense ha

vid blocked here at work, but from what I could see the harness was all one piece or someone did some splicing I couldn't see within the black wire loom. i'll watch the vide tonight when i get home.

update...just swapped thpem out in the parking lot here at work by swapping the lights and the complete harness with each other and the led's work perfectly.

I love free mods! i MIGHT post pics if I can remember to take them and post them...

i finally got to watch the vid and the led tails in the vid have different wiring than the ones i have. mine seem to replace the entire stock harness and has 2 relay or resistor packs per tail.

you should take pics and add it to the how to install your LED tails thread, so if someone else has the same tails in the future they'll know what to do.

lol...me too...rounded first going to second for an easy standup triple and knee twisted and down i went...crawled back to first to stay safe and called for a pr...

I"ll post these pics here and in the led how to install thread...my wife left the house for a bit so i snuck out to get these pics wiht strict orders from her to stay off my knee...sllly girls...lol

The loomed part of the harness is terminated with a plug just like the stock harness just goes under the yd to the stock plug location. I just hadn't seen LED tails with a complete wired harness yet.
