L94 to L96 engine swap

Thanks for your reply. Earlier 6.0s like the LQ4 and LQ9 didn't have VVT, but later engines L96 and LY6 do have it. As far as I can tell, those are the only engines that will swap in easily.

Thanks for the link. That site is very helpful. I've been getting a good bit of information there and that's where I kind of figured out which 6.0 engines will work for me.

I finally got this done a couple weeks ago. Thanks to everyone here for your input, especially Swathdiver. Your assessment was spot on. This was plug and play with the tune, runs great on regular gas. I think we're going to go back into the tune a little, we just used the stock L96 parameters. Gas mileage is down about 2 MPG, but O2 sensor and fuel trim data look perfect on my Snap on scan tool. I'm thinking that the premium fuel L94 with more aggressive timing may just be a bit more efficient. Anyway, I'm very pleased with the results and the increased bottom end torque is noticeable.

I was going to ask why not go with a iron 5.3 for cost savings and fuel mileage? just curious

the 6.0 you went with, was that rectangle port heads like the 6.2? or Cathedral.

did you find out what the noise in the 6.2.was?

World's best way to turn a 1/2T full size SUV into a better hauler. It'll run on regular and crank out 360 hp. If it's the later e85 compatible motor, you get 322 hp the BCM will detect for you. Like the link says add a cam and expect another 100 hp.
