2015 GMC Yukon XL. Harness part# 23316326
Removed rear bumper and replaced harness myself to save the obscene amount the dealership wanted.

Dealership diagnosed the issue. Upon removal of harness it was full of water. I also replaced the proximity sensors on both sides in rear bumper.

Is the cowl panel in place, just below the wipers. Also, there should be small connector panel on the end of each side. I think this could allow
water into the electronic systems. Battery and chassis ground points should be checked also.
My cowl panel is not in the best shape, but I have it taped with gorilla tape and its nice and tight now.

I don’t suppose you have the part numbers for the switches? Also do you mean the parking sensors when you say proximity switches?

I seen that some people had issues under the cowl, I took mine out and and checked it and they seemed good.

Holy shit we may have luck, I removed the rear bumper like suggested this evening along with the wiring harness for parking sensors and blind spot sensors, the harness shows signs of water and heavy corrosion at main connector and connectors at both blind spot sensors, I’ve included some pics. I’ll be ordering the harness and both sensors tomorrow. The passenger side blind spot sensor has taken on so much water that it froze and split open over time. This looks promising for fixing the problem, I’ll update once new parts are installed.

Took the time to take apart the bad blind spot sensor. Gm should be ashamed to sell such garbage, the box has a plastic cover for protecting the board, the cover has no fastener of any type to hold it on, they use a super fine bead of cheap silicone to hold the cover on, it just popped off and when you rub the silicone between your fingers it just falls apart. I’ve included some pics of the unit disassembled. It was full of slat and corrosion. The unit is in a direct path of whatever comes off your rear tires. To make matters worse I called the local dealership today and was quoted a price is 807.13!, it’s also unavailable until July 30th. On top of that it needs to be programmed once installed. It boggles my mind that gm has the nerve to charge these crazy prices for a new Yukon knowing full well they’re building stuff to fail, and when it fails the prices to repair are sky high and made so that you can’t fix it yourself. Thanks General Motors!

I have been having similar issues. Dash going crazy all gauges going to 0, no start issues, won’t shut off issues. I removed the bumper and unplugged the harness and currently it started and runs fine with none of the above starting or stopping issues. I’m curious if you unplugged yours and tried to run it before replacing the sensors and harness?

I haven’t replaced anything, parts would be back ordered for months so I unhooked everything, put the bumper back together and have been driving ever since without any issues. I love these vehicles but man oh man do they ever fill them with garbage parts.

So I put a new harness on and still had the same issue it wouldn’t start. I unplugged the passenger side detection sensor same thing so I plugged it back in and unplugged the drivers side sensor in the corner of the bumper and that solved the issue. I will definitely be replacing that one and hopefully it will resolve the issues! Let me know how yours turns out.

I removed everything and haven’t bought anything yet, I just put the back bumper back on and have been driving it ever since without issue, besides no blind spot or back up sensors working I guess

I also was having same issue for about a year now till I ran into a youbtube video where it explains the issues the sensors and wiring harness can cause once they are broken/wet (all of the above ) and the sensors as well ( thin rectangle box place on rear bumper) anyways long story short after spending $$$ on unnecessary repairs looking for a solution now there no$$ left for harness and sensors (both sides) so I purposely took my water hoes and water down my rear bumper of course no start .. unpluged both sensors and waalaaa problem solve ever since no issues now other then not having the detention sensors on the rear.. so be it i use my mirrors n beeb horn when backing . Its funny now but yukon left me behind a few times and the cost of towing was ridiculous. Heads up any GM owner according to the you tube video i watched its not only on the yukon its in a lot of diff models of GM mind you the video was posted like 5yrs ago. So it seems like its an on going issue with GM. Hopefully this can help others. ✌️

It would be nice if you would link the video, since you referenced it as helpful.

Well... super curious to know how all this turned out for you @Yukon2703. Read all the way through this thread... and granted I've got some of the same, I have several that are different codes. BUT, I can't help but wonder if this is what I'm fighting.

Strange thing is... everything seems to work. Per the wife, a light show displayed on the day for a few seconds, Tahoe shut down. Easily restarted, no lights since. I've driven it several times since, no issues.

Ran my scanner several times over the past week, some of the codes stay consistent while others come and go.

Lost Comms with Restraint Module - U0151
Invalid Data Received from Restraint Control Module - U0452-7F
Control Module Comms Failure - U0073
Brake Apply Sensor Circuit Range/Performance - C0297
Control Module Power Circuit - B1325-03
Body Control Module Circuit - B3210-4B
Audio System Theft Deterent - B3205-4B
Rear HVAC Actuator Malfunction - B242C-02 and 04

Have a few others related to Power Windows and now Door ajar lamp short. But... they all seem to work.

I'm going to have to go look for that connector now!

Did this solve your problem too? I'm getting all kinds of weird codes. I've taken apart and sanded and cleared over so many different grounds all over the truck, I've replaced both battery cables with factory units, I've wiggled and jiggled the harness in so many spots.

I'm also getting a lot of sporadic ABS type codes and the electric fans kick on high speed because it's throwing a thermostat code too. I've already replaced the coolant sensor trying to fix that demon.

At least y'all have conditions you know are causing it. Mine doesn't seem to be JUST when it's raining or getting wet.

I will get out and dig around looking at this though. It's like a glimmer of hope lol.

Just yesterday it started throwing EVAP codes too...because those are so easy to diagnose. We have codes telling me if a sensor is too high or low on voltage but a code to tell me exactly which part of the stupid evap system is just too much.

I'm at witts end with it.

Unfortunately the member you quoted hasn't been on here since Sept. 30th. Perhaps other members will offer suggestions.

It would help us to know what you're working on, and what evap codes you're seeing.

I haven’t had one issue since, the easiest fix, provided you don’t mind losing blind spot assist and back up sensors is a 10 minute job. Remove the rear bumper cover and unplug the main harness for those two items, once I unplugged mine I filled the connector that runs back to truck with dielectric grease and covered it up inside a very good quality freezer bag then taped the crap out of it and tucked it up under the passenger tail light so it couldn’t see any water at all. I still haven’t replaced the sensors or harness for them but I also haven’t had a single issue since. For the cost of a couple bucks and a few minutes of your time it’s a very quick easy fix. Let me know if it works, I try to get back and answer as quick as possible but life happens. Thanks
