According to gmparts.net I have one in my transfer case as well as one in my 4l60.
Is this a speed sensor problem?

if your 4l60 is 4x4 than it only has the one on the transfercase.

Well the mechanic didnt have time to look look at it before he went on vacation. I have had it over the weekend and it hasnt happened again. Should have it back in next week. Nit having this sorted out is stressing me the f out.

I'm having a similar problem with my cruise control. The speedo/rpms jump around and the cruise shuts off. Happens mostly in the afternoon heat.
I figured it was the speed sensor on the transfer case. So I swapped it out, easy enough. But it didn't fix the problem.
Now I'm at a bit of a loss. What else could it be? One of the ABS sensors on the wheels?
