Replacement Stereo

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Although I have GPS/Bose stereo, I am interested in putting in a different head unit, one with a few more capabilities. Has anyone here replaced their head unit, including adding the steering wheel control interface and a GM controller for the OnStar and door chimes? I am very interested in this, and want to do it, but am afraid to do it because of the Hybrid system, and the fact the factory stereo interfaces with it showing what it's doing.

I am curious if changing it will have negative problems, or if it will be ok to change.

Thanks, Manny.

It should be just like changing a regular yukons head unit. But IMO I wouldnt do it as you would loose the hybrid info. Also the money is better spent on better speakers and a sub if your looking for sound quality.

Ive added an amp and sound a lot better, but i use to have a 2005 yukon that would kil me on gas so i went with the hybrid. I had the 2005 all rigged up with a kenwood/dvd/tv and was great. I was looking to do that but was worried about loosing what the hybrid screen but i never used it to see when the truck was changing from battery to gas or oppsite so i really dont care about that screen but will any other functions be lost?

Thanks

well it will be just like your 05 otherwise. To maintain your onstar, door chimes, and steering wheel controls you would need the modules for it.
