I added one of these on my Tahoe, and draining the pan is definitely easier. I’d love to not have a messy oil catch pan to clean up afterwards, but quite a lot of oil still falls out when I unscrew the filter. Even after a good thorough drain through the valve. Oh well.

Put a baggie around the oil filter after you loosen it.

Or a Solo cup. It will catch the oil running down the filter yet be squeezable to grab the filter to turn it.
