The fuel pump on my 2003 Yukon went bad so I went to pick and pull to find a replacement.

I found one that came out of a 2004 Tahoe but as I'm attaching the 2 fuels lines and two wire harnesses to the new fuel pump, I noticed that my Yukon needs a pump that has a square shapped harness attachment and the new one has a oval shapped harness with the prongs all in a straight line.

Well I went back to pick and dropped 4 fuel tanks and none of them had the square harness I was looking for.

I'm at roadblock now.

Anyone know what model year had the square harness or whether there's a way to modify a square harness into a oval one?

Spice and tape?

I need help please.

Is yours a Flex Fuel truck? What is the 8th digit of your VIN?

EDIT: many of the replacement fuel pumps come with an upgraded electrical connector pigtail. Search on RockAuto or similar to see.

Be careful with replacements since the Flex Fuel pump is different from the gas only pump. My 2004 Flex Fuel harness has the square connector, and my pump came with the mate.

My 5.3 is not flexfuel. The fuel pump I purchased is almost identical to the original....except having a square harness.

I noticed that some online retailers include the inline oval harness separately with an option to change from square to oval?

Can anyone verify this? If so, pretty simple splice

I replace the pump in my 02 with a new AC Delco and it came with the new plug design as well as the pigtail for the vehicle side along with self sealing crimp connectors. Why didn’t you just cut the pigtail off the donor vehicle? Problem solved.
