I haven’t touched too it much since posting, this Louisiana heat and humidity has been brutal. I did recheck the upper strut mounts and they seem to be fine.

I’m fairly sure it is the steering rack. There’s noticeable up/down play on both sides when extended. I think is what I’m feeling. The seals on both ends are weeping too, barely noticeable. I didn’t even notice it when replacing the inner tie rods. I plan on replacing the rack soon and I’ll report back in case anyone ends up here from a search.

For anyone wondering. I finally got around to the steering rack and it solved 95% of the issue. Good enough for now.

I suspect the lower steering shaft will need to eventually be addressed too. The boot on the U joint has been torn for years.

I'm just getting my steering lower shaft replaced for the same reason -> the U joint boot has been torn for years.
