I recently purchased a 2005 Tahoe and installed a Kenwood double din head unit along with a set of 2 way RF 6.75's in the front doors. They worked well for a while then last week the two fronts stopped working at the same time. I pulled the left door speaker thinking it was the speakers blown but the replacement wouldn't play either. Then I pulled the HU and disconnected the left front and wired in the RF from the door and it played fine. Soooo.... there has to be some component in between the HU and the doors, I'm guessing a factory amp. I have been trying to research its location and still come up with nothing. It does not have the Bose system, does not have a center console, does not have a rear subwoofer, and I have not found an amp behind the glove box. I'm truly at a loss and becoming frustrated. I am the point of just rewiring the entire system with aftermarket amplifiers however I really want to at least disconnect the factory amp so it will not be a useless power drain. Any help will be greatly appreciated. The rear doors and rear speakers work. Help please.

I would disconnect the factory speaker wiring and wire your own wire from the head unit to the door speakers.
