Not at all for charging, my truck is older and did not have ability to play music through them, that was added in 2010. When we're all in the truck, there's just too much junk to keep charged up! So the dual adapters that charge at 2.4A and 2.5A for both ports in the adapter works better for us. Bought a cell phone holder that fits in the cupholder that has cigar lighter sockets and USB ports too and it plugs into one of the truck's cigar lighters now on the dash. Plus I have a dash cam that is not permanently wired either.

I don't think the radio can support more than one device at a time since that's all it was designed to handle. Plus, the stock radio doesn't put out much amperage to charge even one device while that device is being used. I was using my phone to navigate and play music on the way home when we bought my wife's Yukon and the battery was still dying. The newer trucks basically have USB hubs in the receptacles but they are designed to handle multiple devices and also have a separate 12v input to provide enough power to charge more than one device at a time.

When you had the oem usbs, what did you use to connect them to the radio?

He said his were for charging only. The 2009 radio doesn't support USB at all.

I can't get mine to recognize or play music from my phone when plugged in, unless I plug into the AUX.

Now it will see a usb stick with music files on it and play them
