Here is something I have been waiting for GM to do since they started putting Direct Injection in all the V6's back in 08-09.

The new Chevy/GMC pickups have the option of a 5.3L w/Direct Injection. Giving it the fuel economy of a V6 (16/23) and increasing HP output by 35 (355 HP) from the previous 5.3 (320 HP).

The Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade Hybrids use a 6.0L block with 5.3L heads. I wonder if these 2014 heads would fit on to our 6.0L blocks. If so, this could increase HP output from 332 to 367+ (not including the electric motors, which when combined with the engine has been reported at a combined 379). That’s 47 HP just from the electric motors. So you could expect an output of over 400HP (414 combined, before parasitic loss). This is the same numbers as the BMW M3, Ford Mustang GT (5.0), and Camaro SS. You can think of it as a Tahoe Hybrid SS and it would still have an EPA rating of 20/23+ which is better than the cars above.

I know there are individuals on this forum that work under the GM brand. I also know you can’t release trade secrets, but has the Direct Injection option been visited for retrofitting of existing Tahoe/Yukon Hybrids or for future ones?

HyHoe owners what are your thoughts?
