I'm wanting to color match the grille shell on my 06 Denali. Are you guys that have done this painting/powder coating the stock grille? Is there an aftermarket paintable grille?

Thanks

I painted mine myself and its holding up good so far, though its only been 2 months. The prep process was VERY tedious and time consuming but the end result was well worth it. started out by scuffin the shit out of it with a red scotch bright pad, making sure to hit ALL the corners/tight spots. Scuff till the chrome is "dull". Cleaned well with mild soap/water and rag. Masked off the insert and sprayed 3 coats of duplicolor adhesion promoter, let dry, 5 coats of black sandable primer also duplicolor, aprox 3-5 min between coats, then hit it with a light coat of duplicolor gloss black. 3-5 min followed by 5 or so more coats each one heavier as i went. The key to a "smooth factory like finish" with rattle can is WET coats. The way i keep it from running is after each coat id follow it up with a heat gun to speed the drying process thus preventing runs. after your satisfied with the color begin with the clear following the same steps as the color, light to medium to heavy wet coats hitting it with a heat gun in between. If you take your time you will end up with a factory looking grill. Hope this helps. Ill try and find the pics of mine while i was doing it and post em.:waytogo:

This is the best picture i can find. Not sure what happened to the photos i took during the paint process but you get the idea. Still want to wetsand/polish it though because i got ancy towards the end and didnt let the paint cure before reinstalling and have a few small finger print marks in it :Stupid Me:
