found this beaut on CL the other day. fully intact, no cracks or holes.disassembled it and gave it a thorough scrubbing with some dawn.looks pretty good.its just the wrong color.

any tips on painting vinyl/plastic? specifically what brand of paint you used and how well it has held up?
been told by some that dupli color sprays on nice but doesnt hold up to wear very well. ive heard sem is the way to go.
opinions? concerns? slanderous accusations against certain products?

id like to eventually paint the entire interior black.
1st pic is the look im going for(but with buckets and the denali console)
(the listing says its a 1999 yukon denali.but it doesnt look like any 99 denali ive ever seen) http://www.rickskarkorner.com/vehic...-4-door-suv-29c240377bca2c439bad3c5b44d3e487/

lastly the dash is cracked pretty bad around the vent/outlet for the defroster, id like to replace it, but i cant seem to find any resources for pulling/replacing the dash(parts or writeups) i recall sunlit talking about removing his dash once but i cant seem to find that thread.
thanks for any input.

And the paints I used.

I soaked all the plastic bits in SuperClean and used a metal scrubby to clean and remove all the crud, and finally cleaned with Dawn. I used the American Accents primer, and top coat in several light coats, and used the Fusion for painting the leather parts. I'm extremely happy with the outcome, and its pretty durable. I painted the wood grain bezel with Dupli Color that matches the Pewter exterior color.

i used the stuff they sell in LMC on a door panel over 10 years ago. last time i saw the truck ( bout 3 years ago) the panel still looked pretty good. it never flaked and the only place u could tell it wasnt really tan was where someting had scratched deep in the panel. just like every thing prep is key!

I did this not long ago. I used Gun wash to clean the console, as someone had painted it previously and it looked real bad. I then used SEM Soap and prep to clean it. I sprayed the plastic parts and leather lid a light grey, and the leather ring around the top lid, as well as the woodgrain parts a dark grey. (SEM) I am very pleased with the final results. This process is very labor intensive. I felt using the SEM products was the best way to go.
