2021 Yukon AT4

Hoping someone might have info on this? This is the craziest thing I've ever seen in a car, and frustrating that it's the most expensive vehicle I've ever bought. Got it used few months ago, and after a week or so it had the first episode where the entire electrical/computer/control system just goes completely haywire. The gauges bounce like crazy, speedometer just drops to 0 and back, it rotates through pretty much every warning and service required notice, etc. Sometimes the air will go full blast/full heat, the sound will be stuck on whatever setting or just completely off or full blast, there is no sound when the blinker is on, etc. It will last for days or minutes at a time.

As far as I KNOW, it's not the performance of the vehicle, but I have no idea if the blinkers are actually working, if the ABS is online, etc. Took it local dealer, they worked with regional GM specialist, and no luck identifying or diagnosing the problem, let alone fixing it. I've tried contacting GMC a few times, they finally said "we'll escalate to a level 2" but that was a week ago.

I can't post videos apparently, but I made a twitter account (barf) just to try to get someone's attention at GMC. (FYI - passenger recorded while I was driving for those concerned)

As a complete WAG.. I'd say you have a loose ground wire somewhere. Thats the only thing I know that can affect different systems simultaneously.... Again, just a guess.

Did you buy used from a dealership with an intact warranty?

I wonder if the dealership can reflash the system firmwares to see if it resets anything?

I’m sure the entire cluster could be swapped too, just a matter of parts availability

My Honda Ridgeline did something similar. After months, and many trips to the dealer, it turned out to be something with security system.

I second the "bad ground" WAG. It's where I would start looking. I would also listen carefully for any relays that are wildly clicking.

I'd also pull and reinstall the ZILLION fuses one at a time, to see if the problem can be isolated to one particular circuit.

What is with all the fuses? It seems like every where I look there is a fuse box.

It’s probably haunted. Must be the ghost of the previous owner…

Uh, have you seen how much electrical equipment is on this thing. Literally everything on here is electronic. You need a separate circuit for all most all of it…hence, a fuse for each. I bet there is a mile or so of just wiring.

I wouldn't start pulling fuses. Get it in for warranty service.
