How much would anyone say a box would cost to custom fit it to the back of my 2nd row so it goes over the railings for the 3rd row and fits in snug. Also I was looking to get it made completely out of plexiglass so its see threw. Any input would be great
TOt ake up that whole trunk space get ready to spend some serious money, especially since its gonna be plexiglass.
Got quoted like $300 if I remember right (though I would never pay of $220 for it) to do a setup like this from these guys. Keep in mind that just for the hidden enclosure part. http://www.earmarkcaraudio.com/install_vehicles_cadillacescaladeesv.asp
plexy glass is a whole new ball game. you got to get it thick enough to hold up to subs and no hiding flaws they are gonna show with plexy glass. and think about all the edges they cut, are they gonna be all smokey and jagged from the cut or are they gonna spend hours sanding and polishing out the edges so they are clear and smooth again? and are they just gonna wire up the speakers or are they gonna organize them and spend time making it look straight? with a normal box you can just build something and wrap it in carpet but plexy glass there is all kinds of hard labor that takes place in making it look professional cause everything is clear and can be seen not to mention the fact when building one you cant scratch anything or it will show up and they will half to rebuild that part. but if you got lots of $ go for it
it would probably be more reasonable to build a normal box with maby some plexy glass windows. that way you could hide LEDs or strobes inside the box and all that. even then its hard to get a reliable seal that will last on a window
I think i'm just gonna go with wood/ carpet with a billet center with my clothing company's logo in the center. I wanted a completely plexi box but just have other things Id like to do performance wise to my tahoe before cosmetic.
we did a plexi box about 15 years ago for 4 15 arias, that brand is memphis. the spent one month building it. it had to be reiforced with long ass steel bars in the inside and the sound quality well......... the sound just not the same as a mdf box.
my opnion dont do it.
