My 2015 Tahoe with the 5.3 has developed a slight rough idle so I cleaned the throttlebody and was about to clean the mass airflow sensor when I read on the can of CRC mass airflow sensor cleaner that it should not be used on Karmen-Vortex sensors. I did some Google searching and found that there are several types of mass airflow sensor‘s and the common one used by American manufacturers is a hot wire style, but I can’t find any information to confirm that the 2015 and up 5.3 is in fact a hot wire style. The earlier models clearly are the hot wire style because they have the wires exposed where as the 15 and up have the wires in closed in a box. So my question is, can I (or should I) use the CRC cleaner on my sensor??
