Soo relocating to Va soon and want to get new rims. Found a good deal on 22" 7 spoke esky wheels and tires for $850, but wanted to see how many problems folks on the east coast have with there chrome wheels due....and what other alternatives are there? Thanks!

SW CT,
What I have found is anything aftermarket will pit/flake/rust no matter how good they say the chrome is. Anything that is OEM chrome seem to last for years. Here in the northeast we see big rock salt chunks and now they are using a salt solution that is sprayed as a pretreatment and gets absolutely everywhere under your vehicle. A weekly wash and rinse of the undercarriage will keep it looking great.

Get a set of stock 17's for the snow/salt season.

Best way to winterize the truck/cars for winter is a good wash, then if you want clay it, a sealant and wax. You can even use sealants on the rims to help protect them.

As mentioned, a good coat of wax or sealant goes along way to protect your wheels. My winter is not very friendly to vehicles in the midwest. Weekly car washes with an underbody flush is a good idea. I usually would at least use a warm bucket of water after being out in the 'slop' and rinse off my wheels even if I cant make it to the wash. Its kind of a pain but cheaper than buying a 2nd set of wheels. The best prevention would be a 2nd set of wheels though.....
