Strange.

When I look up a 2014 Silverado 3500, on RA, with gas or diesel engine the biggest alternator it shows is a 160A.

They don't list a KW5 option.

ill look up my ebay purchase history and confirm? Oop's sorry for not doing this first!

I used 1/0 gauge for all my cables,
Added another battery with an isolator and used a Mechman 250amp alternator. Best upgrade I ever did. Fans/ blowers run at peak all the time. I think the alternator out out 220amps at idle.

And I guess this is a direct bolt on without any modifications?

Two Mechmans, 2 Completely isolated batteries. One alternator per battery. Can switch either set in at any time, or even both at once. No, I'm not into car stereos :) just reliabilty.

Also, check out DB ELECTRICAL for their "china crap knockoff" Im running one now and it is still going strong. I absolutely hate the whole china thing but im only loyal to American products until they price my family out of being able to afford what we need! Ie' my knock off tech2 for $300 and the brand new 220 amp alt for $135. Sorry Trump!

Got it done this weekend! Took about 2 hours and looks good. I was starting to have some strange shifting the last couple of weeks and that seems to have cleared up, the "flicker" at about 1000 RMP is gone, my headlights are brighter and overall my idle and acceleration are smoother. So I am confident the upgrade helped! Next I will upgrade the wire from mega fuse to alternator and get a new factory wire for the mega fuse to fuse block.

Recap of what I did:

- New battery terminals
- 1/0 from Battery to Mega Fuse
- 4 AWG from negative battery to frame (added)
- 4 AWG from negative battery to motor (replaced factory)
- 4 AWG from motor to firewall (replaced factory)
- Kept factory ground from negative battery to frame (smaller wire)

With about 30 miles of driving I am happy with it. I will post updates if I discover any further pros/cons.

Jeremiah
