You sure those aren't resonators. They are design to reduce exhaust drone in the cabin. That's pretty far back for catalytic converters. Stock cats are pretty close to the exhaust manifolds. One reason people turn off the rear 02 sensors with longtube headers is it moves the cats further back and they don't heat up as much and throw error codes..

Definitely cats, Right bank is near the rear of the passenger door, like the pic above. Its actually part of the muffler.

I think the difference in placement is due to the pipe length. the drivers bank is "closer" because it has that extra series of bends up front, moving the cat up may have the same overall pipe distance compared to the passenger side.

Makes sense, Only indicating more that there might be a problems since the temps read differently from each other.

All I know is there should not be a problem with longtube headers based on how far back your cats are from the manifold. That's a long way to heat them up properly or maybe that was the intent.
