I'm sitting at the dealer right now for the inspection. The tech told me they've had 3 failures of the ~100 inspections done so far. So I do not believe it is an 'everyone passes' scenario.

update: I'm another pass case. That's good I guess...?
Well I can say that "everyone does not pass the test", because I just failed lol, 60k on truck, no known issues runs smooth. Ran an oil analysis before my Summer towing trip and came back clean. I just sent another oil analysis after the towing and right before this failed test. Interesting to see how comes back. I took the truck back awaiting engine. Had to sign away liability. Dealer told me they have been receiving engines within a couple weeks and 3 days or so to install. They said I am the 3rd to fail out of around 30 inspections. Dealer also said they have not seen of any replacements come back with issues up to this point. Keep you posted

That sucks you failed. What’s your year, model and do you have your engine build date? You’re the first fail I’ve heard first hand.

Sorry to hear that, but maybe getting a new engine (once it's actually completed) is a good outcome?

Did you end up switching to 0w-20 before taking it in, or sticking with 0w-40?

Had to sign away liability.
Could you explain what that is for.

Yes, I have a 22 Yukon Denali, as my name says. I never dug into my engine build date. I did put 0w20 back in truck before test. There was 3 miles on the oil when I took it in for test :) So they wouldn't let me take the truck back until I signed that I was aware that the truck could potentially fail at any time. Once they release it to me with a known documented mechanical issue things change for them. After I posted my initial story the dealer called me back. Sounds like they had another failed test after me and they are starting to second guess their decision to let me take the vehicle, even with the signature. They requested I bring it back to the dealer until the motor can be replaced. They are providing a Hummer EV as a loaner. Always wanted to drive one and I have other vehicles I can drive if needed, so not too upset about it. If they were offering a compact the conversation would have ended differently.

Yes, at this point I feel better knowing that the engine will be new. Even though not crazy about a dealer replacing an engine in my vehicle. Crazy how well the truck feels like it is running right now and how clean the last oil analysis came back from Blackstone. Really no warning as these bombs are ticking....

Can you add your oil analysis here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...D5RyBFWZyqb5HGoOxQ7LNxB5018/edit?usp=drivesdk or send them to me and I’ll add it. You’re one of the few I’m aware of that has data and a failure.

Will hopefully have results from my latest oil analysis back soon. That was immediately before my failed test. Oil included 0W40, towing 7000 lbs for 14hrs through hilly terrain.
It will be very interesting. Just another confirmation that 0-40 oil does not eliminate the failed test

The viscosity in the linked report is in line with 0w20…

Had my L87 test done on Friday and passed. Got the Special Coverage 10 year or 150k mile warranty. My 2022 High Country has 66,000 miles for reference. Good luck to anyone else that will be going in for the recall. My dealership did say that out of 19 cars that have been tested only 1 failed so its not every car like people are making it out to be.

Brothers. I had a 2015 Yukon Denali, 6.2. Blew up w 40k and 4 years. GM repaired, not replaced.

Blew up AGAIN at 61K and I was saved by my Extended Warranty ($3K) They gave me a paperwork "colonoscopy" for oil change receipts from Dealer and private shop. I won! Repaired, not replaced the engine at $5500. I put in a "Range Module" gadget and traded in for a totally different brand 17K miles later, never to return to GM. It stranded me once on a Thruway and we almost were killed. The stress was getting unbearable.

If I had kept it, I'd now have zero Warranty or have to pay another $3K for another Warranty and pray everyday for our safety.

Tks for your concern GM! You now know mine!

I'm looking at either a '25 or '26 Yukon Denali 6.2 depending if my dealer can find my configuration anywhere. Does anyone have any facts pertaining to how many of the 2025 "fixed" 6.2s are breaking as there are reportedly some? Would ordering a '26 mean that maybe GM is still tweaking this engine even during the 2025 model year?
In mid June of 2024, manufacturing of the crank was transferred from a plant in Mexico to the Tonawanda Power Train plant in the US. The engines built after this time will not be on the recall list.

This is really not true, GM still does the forging and mfg. of the crank in the US but sent the cranks to Mexico for all the machining. This is where all the problems started with our bad crankshafts and the subsequent recall. Mexico did not have the knowledge or quality control on this critical part,
