My recall motor replacement is done, and it is motor #3 for me with only 46K miles. 0W40 oil in it. Install was perfect, but the motor itself doesn't sound very good.

I put a remote mic on the oil dipstick for good audio. How's it sound to you all? I don't know what "normal" is anymore for GM.

Did dealer put 0w-40 in engine at replacement.

A remote mic down there is going to pick up everything, and a bunch of stuff that might not be related. You are right by the rotating assembly where most of the noise will be. This is akin to using a stethoscope so everything is magnified. Can you post a video of what is sounds like, say, in the wheel well? It's a rare bird if these engines don't make any noise

Whoa, wait a minute. Are you saying you went in for the recall and your engine didn’t pass pico scope inspection?

For those that had their pico test done and passed, do you get any documentation of the values of your test and see where you are in the pass/fail range. "Barely passed" vs "no signs of defect". I would feel much better if I knew I wasn't right on the edge of passing....

I hadn’t gotten my letter yet and made an appointment with my dealer for the recall
They completed the inspection & oil change and my letter arrived 3 days later
If your vin is on the list the dealers have access to the entire list

VIN is on the recall list and I made appointment with my dealer. I posted before about this. Dealer wasn’t ready and I just got regular oil change.

This is for a 2024 Tahoe in Florida.

Where I live, I can get an 0-20w oil change AND tire rotation for $100.

Here in Florida it’s $112 for 0-20W mobile 1 synthetic and tire rotation for the 6.2l

Got nothing like that. But your question made me curious so I found some videos on how it all works. Pretty fascinating piece tech.

I agree with you, I would be interested to see the results in detail - but I think realistically, all most of us will see is a pass/fail. Maybe someone who has a really good relationship with their service department could get some more detailed documentation, but I don't think they necessarily have any obligation to provide it under the recall, even if you ask for it.
