Technically no. NHTSA says no vehicle can be sold with an open safety recall. But I think a bunch of exceptions were granted for the Takata airbag fiasco, since parts were not available. Suspect maybe GM could apply for an exception here, but who knows if it would be granted or not. While this recall is large, it’s tiny compared to the Takata Airbag one.
Interesting. But I remember seeing them long after parts were available. Maybe they were milking the exceptions. I know the GM dealer fixed mine after I traded it in.

My Neighbors 2022 Denali XL just ate a bearing at 51K miles. This is a pretty unbelievable situation.
Can you ask him a few questions?

What oil?

Did they drive with DFM abled or disabled via Range or L9?

Auto/Stop abled or disabled if they weren’t using L9 or Range?

Vehicle falls under the recall, correct? I would change to 0W40 for best measures.

I’ve already towed this boat 9000 miles with this rig. Doubt much I can do now would alter any outcome.
Me too!
Almost. I have just over 10k miles on my 2024 Tahoe and tow my boat couple times a month, only 12-15 miles each way to the boat ramp but I have a lot of miles percentage wise towing.

I would use 0-40W but like Sad Marky says - figure out a way to get that engine replaced ASAP lol!

Assuming you set up the towing software right, it will keep track of the miles you tow.

I did the initial trailer set up and I think I did everything. I will have to go through the manual and see how to get the data.

This Tahoe tows so nice that I have had several trips without switching to tow mode. I started out and realized, I forgot to switch to trailer mode!
I don’t know if switching modes while in motion is possible but I never did that. I always thought that like Issac - a body in motion……

No federal law against sale of open recall used vehicles. Just NEW. I think california is only state with a law about open recalls on used
