Brake light issues

I have a 2006 Yukon Denali XL. When pressing the brake pedal, a couple of bulbs in the third brake light assembly flash on and then immediately turn off even through the brake pedal remains pressed. The other brake lights do nothing. I have no power at the bulb sockets when pressing the brake pedal. The taillights do work but not the brake lights. The cruise control does not work either. All fuses have power at both sides. Does this sound like a brake switch problem?

Sounds like it to me-so do you have power going in the switch and none out if your testing with test light.

I haven't gotten under the dash yet to test. Hopefully I can tomorrow.

As a follow-up, I replaced the brake switch and that fixed it. When I unplugged the original switch, one of the terminals came out about 1/4 inch so there were internal contact issues.
