I have 4 bolts that are stuck. They hold the seatbelts and the rear seat brackets. They are Torx-50 heads. The all move a little...but not much.

I have snapped 3 torx bits already....tried wd-40, tapping, slowly turning in-out over and over...but no luck. I did successfully drill one out, but I am stuck on the others. I am debating going with Heat from underneath the body....

Anyone have any Tips or Suggestions for getting these bolts out???

Heres a pic of one of the stuck bolts.

Thanks in advance,
MWNT

get a quality torx bit (snap on or mac) on a 1/2 drive use a impact or a huge breaker bar..

Or use some heat :) but be careful with the carpet ovcourse. just dont strip those bolts or else youll have to drill it out of get the bit extractor set which works wonders.. GOOD LUCK! haha i hate those damn torx. esp when the carpet fibers get stuck on the bolts when your trying to put them back in.

In searching for solutions, I found this recommendation on some other forum.
http://www.storesonline.com/site/1320128/product/OTC5901
I have ordered one and will report my results/findings.

What sucks is that I only have three bolts left until I finally get the carpet out and can start cleaning things up, get the sound deadedning material down and start putting things back together. Weather is starting to turn here in Jersey and I hate doing this stuff when it's cold out. I have a lot of other little projects that are dependent on this work being finished...kinda frustrating.

That reminds me of that tool Napa sold me to get that quick release fitting out of the intake ... total waste of my money and my time. If you snapped 3 torx bits already like you said that will be no match.

Impact on the kill setting is the way to go. I broke 2 Crapsman bits removing mine
Whoever thought they were a good idea should have his nuts crushed in a vise, and if he's not around they should find his next of kin

next of kin....that's funny!

SOOOOOOOOO, I literally tired everything in my tool arsenal (except for welding a nut to the top of the bolt, (I don't have a welder (although this would have been a good excuse to finally purchase one, and I am researching this purchase now, but I digress)) These bolts laughed at my 1/2 impact gun set to 120psi. didn't budge at all. #$%^&'ers

I finally broke out the Dremel of all tools and cut the tops off all the bolts to finally get the carpet out. I am periodically hitting the bolts with PBBlaster during work today and will work on them in the next day or two from underneath the truck. I may attempt again to drill out a few as well. It will take days for the carpet to dry, so I got time to work on the bolts and the other items I want to get completed.

I noticed on the ride to work this morning that the passenger side road/exhaust noise is WAY louder then the driver side. I'll address this with the sound dampening material. I also am looking at some other mods for the future and with the carpet out, it's a great time to measure things!

haha still no luck? damn that sucks. maybe someone welded it from the underneath? haha

I wish, then it would have been easy to determine the solution (ie cutoff wheel). If they don't budge from underneath, I am gonna just cut off the chassis bolts and install new ones (could be the easier solution in the long run)

i didnt have that kind of bracket in the back of my truck, but when i replaced my carpet i ended up breaking all 4 bolts that were used from factory with those chrome hooks in the floor. i didnt want them anyways, but man they were so damn tight they all snapped. plud i didnt care about the old carpet, i threw it out anyways..

I know when i was in High school 2 yrs ago, we had a Snap on tool that would heat up bolts and only bolts. It was a wire you tightened around the bolt head or threads and man that thing would get soo red hot it was crazy, It would loosen up everythinggggg! costed like 400 bucks, but man that thing was baddassss

Finally got the bolts removed...via 3lb mallot and chisel! I couldn't grip the fork at dinner Sat night...but I digress.

What a job, but 75% of the interior is back in and I am cleaning like banshee. The sooner this project is done the sooner I can get to the Headers, Exhaust, plugs/wires and 2nd battery before the winter weather really sets in.

Here are some pics....
