AutoCal Tip of the Week!

Six MB of onboard memory exists on the AutoCal. Each tune file can take anywhere from .5 to 2MB of data, depending on vehicle and controller type.

If you receive the Error code of $0194 while copying files to the AutoCal indicates that the internal memory is full. With the 6MB limit, you may not be able to store all of the files pertaining to your vehicle on the device at one time. Delete all logged data and try again, copying only the files immediately necessary.

Have you received the $050C error code lately? If so, this means you need to reconfigure the AutoCal. Most AutoCals are shipped from us pre-configured for the vehicle that it is ordered.

When you receive that error, please reference our list of configuration files in our AutoCal instructions. Highlight the category that corresponds to your vehicle and click download.

A single "Quick Setup" file will download to your computer. Open that file and click on the "Program Quick Setup" button to update your AutoCal Configuration.

AutoCal tip of the week!

Each AutoCal ships with licensing for one vehicle only. Up to 221 vehicles can be tuned with each device, however additional licenses will be needed. If you would like to tune an additional GM Gas vehicle, please contact us for details.

If you receive error code $0280, that means no connection to the vehicle is being made. Please check to ensure that the key is in the correct position at the time of action. If you are collecting the tune files, please ensure that the key is on and the engine is off. If collecting a data log, please ensure the engine is running when using the Record function. Also, please ensure your cigarette lighter fuse is not blown. If you have any aftermarket electronics, please remove the radio fuse.

If these steps do not work please ensure you have the correct vehicle configuration on your AutoCal.

If you have any questions while using your AutoCal please email us [email protected]. We would be happy to help.

AutoCal Tip of the Week!

If you see a File Sys Full error, that means the Data log or the Data log and Engine/Transmission file have taken all the available space on the AutoCal.

Plug your AutoCal into your computer and open the EFILive Explorer program (not to be confused with the EFILive Scan and Tune program).

In the lower pane, click on the "F3: Data Files". Within this section, the file tree will list "Scan", "Tune" and the sub-folder "Read".

Scan corresponds to all logged data that has been created and saved to your AutoCal device.

Tune corresponds to all tune files that can be programmed to the AutoCal via the 5 programming slots in the onboard menu.

Once you copy files to the AutoCal, they will not be immediately visible. You will need to reboot the unit (unplug it and plug it back in) for the files to be visible in their respective "PROG" slots.

Read corresponds to all tune files that have been retrieved from a vehicle using AutoCal's read function.

For the remaining steps please refer to Copying Files To and From Your AutoCal section, in our instructions, on our website.

Are you receiving the $054A error?

That was a common error taking place so EFILive has recently updated the V8 software which supposedly has fixed that bug causing the $054A error.

Please use the link below to update to the latest version:

http://www.efilive.com/latest/cat/download-efilive

You will just click on the blue button beneath the May Release title.

Have you received a $050B or $0525 error code lately?

When reading and flashing controllers it is important to keep your AutoCal firmware up to date, and run the latest version of the V8 software.

By keeping your hardware and software up to date, these are some of the error codes that can be avoided.

Are you receiving the $0537 error?

Error code of $0537. This either means that the PCM/ECM is locked or the configuration is incorrect.
Please send in an email to us if you see this error for our diagnosis.

Want to transfer a data log you just recorded, or transfer a copy of your stock tune files you just read out from your vehicle, from your AutoCal to your computer, so you can email them in to us to receive your custom tune files?

Are you receiving a File Sys Full error?

If so, then you need to open your EFI Explorer program, (not to be confused with the Scan and Tune Program). With the AutoCal plugged into your computer and the EFILive Explorer program open, you will be able to transfer your files from the AutoCal to your tuning files folder on your computer to send to us. You will also, within the EFI Explorer program, have the ability to delete your files off the AutoCal to free up space.

If you have any questions you can email us [email protected] or call 877-809-4070.

AutoCal Tip of the Week!

Here are some examples of FAQs that we receive in regards to the AutoCal:

Does the AutoCal come with any tunes?

No, the AutoCal does not come with any tunes. In order for us to provide your custom tunes via email we will need a 20-30 minute data log, along with a copy of your stock tune file(s). If you are adding a supercharger, or mod where you would need a tune first, we would just need a copy of the tune file(s) from the vehicle, and we will use that to get a base tune to you, to get you up and running safely, and then have you data log.

Can I tune other vehicles with the AutoCal?

Yes, you can tune up to 221 vehicles with the AutoCal. We can provide tuning for 98 and newer GM gas vehicles. You can also use it to tune Duramax engines, with a diesel tuner of your choosing.

Are there multiple tunes that I can change on the fly?

Unlike diesel tuning, with gas tuning, all your changes, and gains are all addressed on one tune. You can have a separate octane tune, for example 89/87, or 91+ and you can switch between those.

Is it compatible with an Apple (Mac)?

No, you will need a laptop or desktop with Windows. Some customers have had success running Bootcamp, or Parallels on their Mac, which will allow you to run Windows.

Let us know if you have any questions. We will be happy to help.
