Only used damp rag to clean it from sneezes and what not - manual says not to use protectants; I didn't and it worked...

I’ve always used protectants (good quality not shiny armor all types) and have never had a vehicle with cracked dashes.

Honestly didn’t even know that was a thing.

I also only use a damp rag, was told a long time ago when I had my 1999 Camaro to NEVER put any protectants on the dash. So far it's always worked, I've had the Camaro, a Silverado, and a 2004 Tahoe. Doing the same with my 2017 Tahoe.

Is there anyone here with a vehicle that was produced in the last decade that has a crack in their dash?

I've been noticing a lot online lately about using cooking oil or vaseline on the dashboard.
I have not tried either, but it truly seems to be a thing these days.

P.S. 161k miles on my '08. No cracks in dash. (Knock on wood...)

Weird. Mine looked brand new at 50k miles.

Must have been the non petroleum based dash protection I used.
Traded mine in with 80k I believe and used Armor All on it and no cracks.

There’s a sticky on people not using good dash protectant but not one on the NNNBS vibration?

Crazy times.
