Hey man whatever makes you happy. I get it.

I was just saying that someone stated “lining them up” in regards to racing these trucks. My point is in regards to that, you’re not going to be winning any pink slips lol.

You’d need a 2000hp Tahoe to keep up with a stock hellcat……. It’s not a “racing” platform.

I love my 6.2L Tahoe with performance package. It’s nice and can keep up with traffic. For me it feels very slow though. It really falls flat after 3000rpm and any speeds over 50mph it won’t get out of its own way. But it’s fun as it sounds nice and has a little low end grunt.

I’m used to pulling my “fast” car to these speeds so you can understand my comparison:

Totally understood. And, if you compared your fast car to a jet powered Bonneville Salt Flats racer, it would still be a turtle. :)

A number of folks here like to take their trucks to the track regularly. Not truly racing, or to break any records, for sure, other than perhaps their own, but instead to widen that smile and hear their ears ring, when they go roaring down the track.

All in good fun.

How fast can you afford to go? More importantly, have you spent wisely? Speed and durability cost money.
Only mods I know that are of any help in terms of both speed AND durability are improving the axle ratio(s) and ecm/tcm tuning.
Apart from that, these vehicles trade durability over speed, which is usually wise.
(An LSA in a Mazda Miata, will never make that Miata able to tow anything heavier than itself.)
Best bang for the buck I have found is lighter wheel and tire option. Dropping down from a 22" to a 18" or even a 20" does wonderful things to the way the heavy truck feels.
Brakes become stronger, steering becomes lighter, acceleration and cornering benefit. I think a set of light wheels is worth its weight in gold compared to any power adders.
This word is solid bone. Making centripetal masses lighter always has additional benefits. Also helps things last longer between repairs / replacements.
I went from 20" Wagoneer wheels to a 20" PPV Steel wheel and the difference is staggering. Adding unsprung mass has me questioning why I did this.
I will be going to a 18" set up soon. The cushy ride with thicker tire is also a nice bonus.
NYer's experience with potholes and intentionally badly maintained roads:
Steel wheels can withstand more, and are usually easier to repair, but if you don't have that problem, better to go with a lighter wheel.
Most of us would be fine with 18" wheels which still leaves enough rubber to protect a lighter wheel from the DOT (NOT accounting for TASTES!, get off my @$$).
My understanding is that there are precious few 20" wheels that solidly built AND lightweight - by precious I mean COSTLY.
Hopefully you find the lightest 18" wheel that you can afford.

I can make a Suburban go that fast if we just lighten it up by removing the third and maybe the second row seats and putting a Pratt & Whitney J135 back there. :p

What's the weight difference between a Suburban vs a Tahoe? Yes, I'm asking about the GMTK2Yx & GMTK2Ux, but also about their predecessors, so:
GMTK2Yx vs GMTK2Ux?
GMT93x vs GMT92x?
GMT82x vs GMT82x?
I'll leave the elders alone ...

Actually a suburu will beat my 850hp car on the street stoplight racing lol. Spinning ain’t winning. Need a prepped drag strip or a roll race starting around 80mph to hook up.

Or at pocono!

This is why I always thought 'horsepower' ratings were dumber than elapsed times.
If making more horsepower makes you slower, you've been made dumber.

I don’t street race….. my car is much faster than a WRX at all metrics. If you street race your an idiot.

Put a top fuel dragster on a street it will light up the tires and spin off the road and hit a pole.

I prefer running the standing 1.5 mile events. I mean a little WRX may get me to 60 but after that he’s a speck in my rear view lol.

I won’t be able to go WOT even on a runway until around 80mph. Under that I’m feathering the throttle. I heard guys with really fast cars like 3000hp underground huracans can’t go full throttle until they hit over 150mph.

So maybe a modified Tahoe can be a 0-60 queen on the street???

This is the fastest car world record holder in just pure power, I’m a turtle compared to this. It takes me 1.5 miles to hit around 194mph this bad boy did 260mph in the 1/2 mile!

And no he can’t go WOT off the line he’s probably feathering it almost the whole run!

GMT800 Tahoe with 4.10 or 4.30 and a 6.0L - think L76t/LY6/L96/LC8, but with 10.4:1 scr - would give a GMT821-PPV a run for the money,
even if GM's GMT821-PPV with a 5.3L & 3.73 would eventually have a higher top speed, don't think GM's PPV could catch it in time.
or
GMT900 Tahoe with 4.10 and a 6.0L as above, would also very likely gap a GMT921-PPV with a 5.3L & 3.08 enough to 'get away'.

Obviously a 6.2L would be far better to make people wonder why GM's Tahoe-PPVs only have 5.3L V8s - 6.0L would just be a lot cheaper.
Point is, a 5.3L in a PPV? SERIOUSLY? Come on ...

I thought all the police spec Tahoes had the 6.2? I have that in mine and it would work as a police truck but not a 5.3!

NONE. Since 2000, they've all had a 5.3L, although the Gen5 5.3L has a few parts from the LT1 sprinkled in.
Some SSVs had a 4.8L with slightly superior axle gears, but most had a 5.3L and were geared for a higher top speed at the cost of acceleration.
L86 & L87 have far more in common with the LT1, though.
