I would imagine that "billet" vs "cast" alum blocks may make some difference here.
And of course the make up of the crank itself - steel, forged, billet...
The crank would expand "some" with heat to close the clearance a bit
I think this is the reason (maybe) that gm has gone with a variable oil pump
in the new gen 5 V8 and a reason why the high end engine builds OE and aftermarket
use a dry sump oiling system.
