I have 2 12" alpine type r's and I want to know what's a good amp for them. Any suggestions. I bought them a couple a years ago. They were somewhere around $200 each. Crashed my car. Saved my 12's. Want to give them new life in my tahoe.

Well if you want to keep it all alpine then I would recommend this http://www.google.com/products/cata...ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CAcQ8wIwAA#ps-sellers Alpine makes really great amps and it would push those type Rs just right, cause they're 500 watt RMS each. But a 1000 watt amp is what you need to look for. Rockford also has some amazing amps, but if youre more on a budget some brands to look into are: Hifonics or Planet Audio. All depends on how much youre willing to spend on one.

well, couple of realistic questions.

what impedance are the drivers, and what's your budget?

Thanks guys. And as far as budget. I don't want to spend over $400 for an amp if possible.

Like Blueflamed stated, are the 2 or 4 OHM. Pretty key factor when picking an amp.

2 OHM. I think one was cheaper than the other. I think 4 OHM cost more at the time. I got the cheaper ones. So I believe they are 2 OHM. I would have to look again. They are stashed away in my basement.

no kidding, impedance shouldn't determine cost, just how you plan to have them wired. Check to make sure, it's very important when picking an amp, and vice versa.

Alpine probably makes some of the cleanest speakers for the price that I have heard in a long time. If you are at dual voice coils at 2 Ohms, then I would say grab the MRP-M1000. If you are at dual voice coils at 4 Ohms, I would say grab the MRP-M1000 :emotions122: The amp will give you the best bang for your buck. I am thinking of going back to that set up. I had it in my Caddy and it was nothing like it. I love Alpine! Be sure you use Dynamat or something similar cuz it's going to put out quite a thump! Check Ebay, they have them for like $200-$300 right now including shipping. Be sure to blast some pics when you get it all set up :)

i have a rockford 500.1 going to mine pumps pretty good and sounds RIGHT with the 99 factory bose speakers. had a 300.1 going to it before.. this year i might hook both up to the single sub and see what that brings.( i believe i can just hook up both amps to each other with a RCA) got both amps on eBAY for very cheap! like under 400$ for both.--- just looked at the 300.1 and there is only 1 input for RCAs maybe i cant hook up both together..anybody know?

hey you guys still out there?

New member here, 1st post. I have two 4ohm 10" type r's (600rms, 1800 peak) & i just ordered a alpine mrp-m1000, but after doing some more research im having buyers remorse. I can wire the subs to 4ohm R 1 ohm but that amp is not 1ohm stable. so all i can get is 600 watts x 1 chan. which is 300 rms each sub? is that enough R do i need to get another amp?

I had the Type R's as well and ran the Alpine 1000 amp. Loved em but need more cargo spot so I had to ditch the set up. Sucks but what can you do. Would love to have more boom but can't sacrifice the cargo area any longer.
