Just changed my a/c belt this weekend. Its the elestic type with no tensioner. Took me a minute but finally figured it out. I bought a gates elestic belt tool to do the job. Long story short is...it doesnt work. Put belt behind crank shaft pulley, put belt on a/c compressor pulley, start belt on top of crankshaft pully as far as it will go. Use 2 large zip ties and zip tie belt to crank shaft pulley. Make sure the zip ties are against one of the spokes on the pulley. Then with (i think it was 22mm) large socket and breaker bar rotate engine slowly until belt stretches on to crankshaft pulley. Carefully remove zip ties and thats it.

AC doesn’t work or belt wouldn’t go on? Nice write up though

Do these nnbs not have an adjustable a/c bracket like the older nbs did?

I've replaced fhe a/c belt on my 2001 and I didn't have to buy/rent/do anything special

I believe 2010+ switched to a stretchable belt with no tensioner. I don't know if there's any particular benefit other than no tensioner to wear and an easy couple of bucks for specialty tool manufacturers.

Yes no tensioner pulley on my '10. The tool doesnt work because 1. cant use on the ac compressor. 2. The tool hits a bolt at top of the crank pulley. I believe timing chain cover?

This is the one I bought it's magnetic and reverses it takes the belt off one way then puts it back on the other way, I thought it was going to hit as well but there was just enough room to work perfectly.

Have you ever thought about using a pair of scissors to remove it..

might as well cut it off if your replacing it

of course you don't want to do this on the Stephenie belt as the tensioner might get damaged from snapping back fast..
