i got a 2007 Chevy Tahoe 5.3. It started the 1st time I drove it after the rebuild, it will shift into 2nd perfect then when it tries going into 3rd the rpm’s shoot up to 4500-5000 and come back down( id assume it’s still in 2nd) I only did it 3 times that way bc I didn’t wanna worsen anything, i can send a video of it whenever I get a chance. But one thing during the rebuild I should of done was replace both of the plastic accumulators with aluminum, but since im doing this is my driveway I’m looking for any advice on what I can test or even replace without pulling the whole tranny off, fortunately for me I dont need the car during the winter so if I can’t easily fix it, I’ll just pull the tranny and really take my time during the winter and see if I can find the issue. But also the reason for the rebuild originally was anytime I would press the gas semi hard it would slip or shift hard. Any advice would be very appreciated!

I would take it back right away. I have 03 Tahoe on its 3rd tranny, I remember Scotty kilmer saying that only one in five transmission shops will do a decent job. Just past the warranty and it give us problems. I watched the YouTube transmission bench.com.
Now I going to build my own put the hiring pieces and modifications that I requested in the second and third transmission. So I think you're on to something about taking the time and may as well rebuild it with the best parts and that way you won't have a problem with it again.

You need to plug in a bi directional scan tool that's capable of rendering live powertrain data to see if you're simply hanging in second gear (solenoid or VB problem) or if it's shifting into third and experiencing a false neutral condition. Once you know for sure which one of those conditions applies to your vehicle/transmission, we can offer more guidance and next steps.

Did you rebuild this transmission yourself or did you have a shop perform the work?

I take it that you did the rebuild at home. Maybe @NickTransmissions has a tip

I’ll try finding one of those scanners, and will let you know asap, i did it at the house, watched a YouTube vid on it (I don’t remember who but looking back I wish I watched it off of transmission bench) but he was still very good on air checking and using the feeler gauges checking specs! Whenever I go to work tn I’ll try finding that scanner but any chance do you know if any local auto stores rent them out? I’ve seen they are usually pretty pricey but I’d rather spend the money to potentially save my self from pulling it again, I got a gravel driveway so it wasn’t the most fun experience pulling it and putting it back in, thanks

@Brodylyons3 - Transmission Bench will put you to sleep so glad you didn't watch any of his videos; he's a great anesthesiologist so there's that.
Yea, let me know when you put the scan tool on it.

If you do end up taking it back apart, check out my 4L60E tear down videos as I go through everything you need to inspect and test as well as how to do it. I also have numerous videos on reassembly, valve body build up/mods and more (and I won't put you to sleep).

Funny you said that about falling asleep, first time I watched it I did fall asleep . Had to watch it again during the day so I could stay awake. Then I watched it one more time at night so I could fall asleep, worked like a charm.

That channel occasionally gives ill advise, including reusing teflon sealing rings. So not only does he put you to sleep, you'll wake up angry once you realize what happened when you (or anyone) follows such advice.

Sorry it took me so long, i finally was able to find a scanner that worked, so it does command it to go to 3rd then it will go into 4th and when its commanded into 4th it actually drives normal, would this mean i tore one of the small white teflon seals on the shaft? When I rebuilt it I triple checked it and made sure those seals weren’t tore so I’d be surprised if it was that but clearly I ****** something up

Also I got 3 codes in the transfer case control module, CO327-6 Range Actuator Position Switch Circuit - Low Voltage/Open
CO306-05 Range Actuator Control Circuit - High Voltage/Open
CO321-06 Rear Drive Module Lock Circuit - Low Voltage/Open

I assume these are just showing up to the results of something failing but not sure if it points in a direction on what’s actually failing

Hey should I do anything or should I start pulling it back out?
