Sounds like the 3.0 is the winner... now only if I can convince my wife.

What are your wife's objections? Take the Duramax sticker off and she wouldn't even know it was a diesel. Doesn't sound like one or smell like one.

Maybe the question I should’ve asked is how does the 3.0 compare to the 5.3. She’s had the 5.3 and 6.2 and didn’t care for the 5.3, likes the peppiness of the 6.2. Currently in a TRX which has plenty of get up and go which she enjoys. While neither the 3.0 or 6.2 will match the TRX, she doesn’t want it to feel like a slug.

If she's after "Peppiness" as a #1 criterion... then 3.0 ain't your 1st choice.
Of course, you'll get to use premium at + 1.00 a gal@ 16MPG and a "Who Knows" if your engine will grenade at any undetermined point.... But it will be "Peppy"

Not the number one criterion but a big consideration. 16 MPG with the 6.2? Sounds incredible! Double what the truck gets... lol

One more thing to think about is her mistakenly putting gas in the diesel when filling up. She's probably not going to like the area the pumps are mostly cruddy. I saw a F-250 once pulling up to the pumps as I was going inside after talking to a friend of mine in the store I walked out and the woman was done filling up as I rode by the truck it was a diesel the diesel pump was further up she pulled up next to me and went down the road don't know how far she made it as I was going the other way.

Not that you need any more data points but I’ve owned all of them GM V8s in the full-size SUVs/trucks and the 3.0 is hands down my favorite. It just fits the character of the Tahoe/Suburban so well.

I still love gasoline V8s for my performance vehicles but for these big boats the diesel is the way to go. Cant believe it took GM this long to figure out!

Gonna throw in another amen for the 3.0. Over 10,000 miles my worst tank is 20mpg (12L/100km) and I typically see closer to 21mpg on a tank. My local driving is a lot of short trips with not very much highway. I’d described it as suburban driving. What’s also great is the fuel economy reading are insanely accurate. I mean within 1-2% and often bang on.

When we hit the highway I religiously get 9L-10.5L/100km (22.5-26mpg). My typically experience is around 24-25mpg. The only time I’ve gotten worse is in windy and rainy conditions. The highways in Nova Scotia/New Brunswick are quite hilly too not much flat driving around here. Also, these are 77-80mph figures, not 65mph.

Easily fixable buy buying a green Diesel gas cap on Amazon. If you can't keep it straight after that, then I just don't know....

so...
she already doesn't like the performance of the 5.3 and your thinking 3.0
going from a TRX to a 3.0 is a significant step down in regard to pep

my daily is an RHO, wife's daily is a Denali xl with the 3.0; night and day difference when I switch between them

she isn't like to like the 3.0
