I see other posts about this, but no resolution. Has anyone had any luck figuring out why the Tahoe honks three times randomly. In ALL my cases of when this happened, it's always AFTER I back get INTO the car and close the driver's door:

1 - I get out of the car and take my keyfob and phone with me. Close the driver's door. I don’t lock the car. Talk to someone for 10 minutes. Get back in the car and as soon as I close the driver's door it honks three times. Why?

2 - I get out of the car and take my keyfob with me. Close the driver's door. Phone stays in the charger while I get gas. Get back in the car and as soon as I close the door it honks three times. Why?

It's SO annoying and I can't figure this out. I'm about to pull the fuse for the horn lol. Thanks in advance!

Lock your vehicle after you exit and see if that resolves your issue. Otherwise your car is reminding you that you left your keys in the car.

I wondered the same thing after we got our 2022 Denali. I notice it most when I stop for gas. Maybe it is to remind me to close the fuel door? I do not know. I know that I get a lot of looks when it honks. As you say I don't remember ever seeing a "solution" to this on the Forum. I'm sure the GM engineers had a great reason for including this "feature". It may be intuitively obvious to them, but I am not seeing the logic.

Have you gone thru the vehicle and/or security settings to see if there’s anything that may have an audible alert checked off or highlighted in the box? I’ve only noticed ours doing that when I get out and either leave the keys inside or walk away with the vehicle running and the keys are in my pocket.

Funny usually it honks like that when you get out and leave it running to tell the world there's a car to steal, not when you get back in lol.

Is your Tahoe equipped with the interior motion detection system or intrusion detection system?

So I figured out a way to make this behavior stop. I changed the door lock settings to have all doors unlock when putting into park. No more honks at all actually....including the ones when getting gas (that others have mentioned above).

I can’t explain the “why” but I know that if I use the key fob to lock and then unlock before getting in, the annoying triple honk doesn’t happen. So now, anytime I exit the car I lock it with the fob. If I am unsure if the car is locked as I approach (wife was last one to drive it for example), I always lock and unlock before getting in. Works every time.

See, I told you there was a good reason. And thanks for posting the workaround for this Hal9000 feature.

I'm having the same problem. I went to visit some family members early in the morning. Around 2:00AM. I hopped out of my SUV and it honks the horn two or three times. Waking everyone up. I could even see some of the neighbors looking out of the window. Another time I went to the gas station and someone walked in front of my vehicle. I turned the ignition off and the horn honked twice when I was still in the vehicle. He must have thought that I was honking the horn at him for getting too close to my vehicle. He just walked away but I thought that it would turn into a confrontation. This is extremely annoying. And it happens at random times. Sometimes when I open the door really fast and just hop out it will honk. Sometimes when I get into the vehicle it will honk as soon as I close the door. I've never had any problems when I first got the vehicle. For about a week I was driving around with two key fobs in the vehicle. When it first started to happen. I separated the keys and it is still happening. I have tried turning on and off all of the settings. And trying different keys but it still keeps happening I'm thinking about bringing it in for service. But I can't get it to happen because it happens at random times. I have also witnessed this happened on a different Chevy vehicle. A man got out of his cars and I can see the keys in his hand. And the horn honks twice. So I'm wondering is this something built into the software.

I have a 2024 Tahoe Premier 4WD and experience the unnecessary and annoying honks too.

If I have one fob in my pocket (other fob in the house), I can start the vehicle and drive away. When I later stop and open the LF door (with the engine running) and get out briefly, then return to the car and close the LF door, the vehicle honks several times. I do this often when I stop at the end of my driveway to retrieve the mail from the mail box.

I also have the honking situation when I drive the vehicle, stop and turn off the engine - but leave the LF door open when I get out (such as when I’m getting gas and using pay-at-the-pump, and do not go inside). There is no other fob within miles, just the operating fob which is in my pocket.
