I asked a question, to which noone seemed to know the answer to (likely those who know the answer aren't reading order threads), on one of these threads. It was whether or not GM knows who the buyer is, when a custom order is placed, or if it's simply between GM and the dealership. Because there are or were people who months into the process didn't even have an order#. And, why not sell the order to the highest bidder etc.
The answer is, GM knows who the buyer is. Because I got an email yesterday, when I know that last Friday the order was accepted:
Congratulations-your 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe order has been received for production! You're officially one step closer to seeing your version of this vehicle come to life.
Make sure you keep an eye on your email for status updates about your vehicle's journey, so you can follow along from our factory to your dealership.
The email has my name, the vehicle, the order#, the color, the trim, the interior. It doesn't spell out the options, however. The point is the email could not have come out of nowhere, our information has to be attached to the submission, is what I think. Acceptance is the first of 8 boxes shaded in the email, so I suppose GM only considers it an "order" at acceptance, and not before. For whatever it's worth figured I'd answer my own question and post. And again through chat, I know the order was accepted Friday afternoon. This email came Wednesday afternoon. I'm keeping track of the timeline because I think it will be interesting to see it, especially if we ever do this again.
