I will replace my 2020 Tahoe battery soon. Current size is H6, will a size H7 fit?

I do not specifically know the answer to your question, but the H7 battery is 1.47 inches longer than the H6 battery, with all other dimensions being the same. I suggest that you measure your battery mount location and see if you have one and one half inches room available to fit the H7 battery. I'd look first at the battery tray to see if there is a lip on both ends of the tray (to keep the battery from sliding), and if there is, is there a combined on and one half inches of free space between the lips and your current H6 battery, as that might be your determining factor.

I have a 2018 and it calls for an H7 battery. Wondering why you would have an H6

Interesting that the two are about equal in power, the H7 is longer, weighs less by 3 lbs. but costs more by a lot in some brands.

Couple searches.

H6 10.90 x 7.00 x 7.50 Inches @ 53.4 lbs 760 cca
H7 12.44 x 6.94 x 7.50 inches @ 50.9 lbs 800 cca

I'd check specs. pretty close before buying. I've always thought heavier is better in batteries.

Second the H7 size for my '15 Yukon XL Denali 6.2 L86. It does seem odd that the current size in your 2020 Tahoe is an H6?

However, if you go to the general auto parts sites ie. Autozone, Advanced, O'Rielly's type in 2020 Tahoe LT w/ 5.3 all sites bring up both H6 and H7 size batteries as options. The dimensions seem pretty negligible I'm sure an H7 size would work fine. I don't see GM drastically changing the size of where the battery is held down across the model platforms.

My rig still has the original battery, 118K miles and 5-6 years old. I was considering proactively replacing it before this winter though.

When it comes to replacing batteries I've always leaned towards getting one that offers the most CCA.

What a pain to replace. It’s not hard just have to remove some stuff. Took about 20 min for removal and about 10 min for the install. What happened to a simple battery swap where the only bolt to remove was the hold down?
