Looking into buying a used 2017 Yukon with 12000 miles but I’m worried about the amount of rust on the underside. Thoughts? Is this expected? Does it matter? If I decide to buy anyway, should I do something to fix the spots to prevent further rusting?

That's more than I would expect for a 2017, but if you live where they use road salt in the winter, it's just going to look like that (and worse) eventually anyway. I would also factor in how long you expect to keep it.

Hmmm, I live in snow/salt country and my 2017 Yukon XL underside doesn't look anything close to that. I have *some* unerside rust, but the one you posted looks like it has years more exposure than mine......

Was under my auto today and noticed I had a factory rust prevention of some sort sprayed on my frame. Looks/feels like 90% dried tar. From your pics, this is absent. Might be the difference between what I am experiencing rust-wise, and what your photos show.
