2017 Tahoe DIC Issues

I have a 2017 Tahoe that is all digital except the speedometer and tachometer. Once in a blue moon it will come on where you can see it when it’s dark with the illumination knob rolled all the way down. If you try to roll the illumination knob up to brighten it at all it goes out and when it goes out if you roll the illumination knob back down it’ll come back on and sometimes it won’t. 95% of the time it doesn’t work at all. If it wasn’t for the Chevy app we’d never know exactly how much gas we have it

It sounds to me like the illumination knob is defective, but other folks more knowledgeable than me on dashboard controls will chime in.
